Music Centre & Tone Colours 30.11.

What happens when abstract paintings are given musical form? Would you like to hear a real symphonic orchestra playing live? Or visit the Helsinki Music Centre, enjoy its architecture and find out, how good the acoustics really are? Or just relax and enjoy some beautiful, classical music?

Now it’s possible because the Guild of Architecture is organising a visit to the concert of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra on November the 30th!

110. Wähäjoulu afterparty 5.12.

Welcome to the Afterparty of Wähäjoulu!

This year, the afterparty and traditional night swim have been combined in to one great adventure in the waterpark Serena! You are welcome to join the afterparty even if you cannot join the main event.

In the pools and saunas you can shrug off the dust of the party, and in the Luolamies -restaurant DJ Windows95Man will guarantee an epic rave!

Buses will transport revelers from Otaniemi to Serena after the main event, and back throughout the night. The exact schedule of the buses will be posted later.

A ticket costs 30€.


You may swim with a swimsuit or nude. In the party area and lobby however you are required to wear clothes or a bathing suit.

260 places have been reserved to Wähäjoulu main event guests. In addition, there are 100 places for other guests.

Sign up either while signing up to Wähäjoulu, or if you’re only joining the afterparty, on a separate form.

Village Christmas Party 14.12.

Midsummer comes along every summer, but the Village Christmas Party is only once a year!

Campus Section and OtaHoas are organising the traditional Village Christmas Party on Friday 14 Dec at Rantasauna. The Village elves have magicked a tasty feast to be served with drinks and heated up the sauna for the guests. There will also be fun, Christmassy activities on location. We will also get to enjoy some beautiful live music from 8 pm onwards.

All Village residents and likeminded people are welcome at the Village Christmas Party. Remember to invite your friends and flatmates too!

Interested in studying at the Master’s Programme in Urban Studies and Planning? Come and get to know us!

The USP teachers and students will give information about the two-year study programme and share their experiences in an open info session on November 27th at 3-4pm in Urbarium, Porthania (Yliopistonkatu 3, street level).

The Master’s Programme in Urban Studies and Planning (USP) is a joint study programme of the University of Helsinki and Aalto University. The programme prepares students to excel as professionals capable of understanding and addressing complex urban development challenges. Students gain a broad understanding of urban phenomena as well as practical experiences in collaborative and concrete situations. The programme offers several degree options from two universities:

University of Helsinki: Master of Science (env. sciences & geography), Master of Social Sciences & Master of Arts (humanities)

Aalto University: Master of Science (Architecture), Master of Science (Landscape Architecture) & Master of Science (Technology)

The next application round begins on December 3, 2018 and ends on January 11, 2019, for studies starting in Autumn 2019.

The programme combines several degree options from Aalto University and the University of Helsinki. The target degree is to be selected in the application process, and the application should be directed to the suitable university according to the target degree. The applicability of previous studies is assessed according to the selected target degree. The chosen target degree cannot be changed.

Do you like coffee? Would you like to know how to build a self-driving car and an electric Formula race car? You are welcome to attend the TalTech pop-up university!

27.11.2018 Aalto University 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (DIPOLI, Otakaari 24, Otaniemi, Espoo)

12 p.m.  – 1.30 p.m. open lecture Cyber hygiene- How to survive and be safe in the cyberspace? Best practices from cybersecurity students. The speakers are Kristiina Konno (from Estonia), and Andrew Roberts (from Australia) who are both first-year cybersecurity students.

2 p.m. – 3.30 p.m.  open lecture Smart City: “How to connect cities digitally? The case of Finland and Estonia”. The speaker is Ralf-Martin Soe, a Research Fellow at the R. Nurkse Department of Innovation and Governance.

Open lectures will be held at the Lumituuli auditorium and the fair will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Nyyti ry is a national Finnish non-profit organisation founded in 1984. Our operations are funded by Finland’s Slot Machine Association (RAY). More info about Nyyti can be found here: https://www.nyyti.fi/en/yhdistys/

The purpose of our operations is to support students’ mental health and life management. We aim to improve students’ study skills and ability to cope with everyday life as well as related peer activities. Moreover, we aim to enhance the skills of people in charge of mental health promotion and problem prevention among students and in student communities.

We want to get feedback and suggestions for the future regarding Nyyti’s web activities, website, and online content. Your opinion is very important to us, and it will help us develop our operations. It only takes 5 – 10 minutes to fill out the survey.

The survey is meant both for students and the professionals who work with them. The results shall be analyzed in confidence and anonymously so that none of the participants can be identified based on the answers.
