Weekly Digest 19/22

Hello once again, Weekly Digest is back from summer break! To iterate, Weekly Digest

1) is published once a week (Monday / at the beginning of the week)

2) briefly introduces upcoming events and activities to which all guild members are welcome to attend

3) helps keep your calendar up to date with these upcoming events

4) is written by the guild’s publicist / me. I study my third year in landscape architecture, and I started as a Guild of Architecture’s Publicist in January. Besides from writing the Weekly Digest I’m the responsible person for guild’s social media accounts and communications committee. (Sorry about the inactivity – I’ve been taking some time off from guild work before the first semester!)

The Weekly Digest is a ”slower” media for following news in the guild. That’s why I recommend joining guild’s Telegram announcement channel, where you’ll reach news about events and other announcements in time. The channel’s official languages are Finnish and English.

Houston, we have a problem…

Although orientation week is quickly behind us, it’s not time to go back to earth quite yet. Aalto Afterparty makes a comeback in the middle of the solar system, in Otaniemi, after three years. During the evening, top artists will lift everyone’s party mood through the roof all the way to space.

In addition to the musical experiences, you’ll get to enjoy the bar and other fun activities. So head to Dipoli on Tuesday, September 6th, for one of the biggest parties of the school year!

The craziest party of the orientation week, Kaukkarit, is here once again! Orientation week culminates on Friday 2nd of September when Smökki is filled with conversation, partying, great food and drink, without forgetting the spectacular bands.

Bioblitz
8.9. / register for the event by 1.9. // Otaniemi campus 

 Arranged for the first time in Otaniemi, Bioblitz is a fun competition in teams that focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time. The observations are photographed and gathered in iNaturalist mobile application, making the results also available for research purposes. The application also facilitates the identification of species by providing suggestions based on users’ photographs of the observed specimen.

The competition is open for all students and staff in Aalto University and biology students and staff in Helsinki university and there is an option for teams to adopt biology students / staff into their teams. We strongly encourage the participants to form interdisciplinary teams from 2 to 5 members, but the event is open to all kinds of combinations of people. Aftergame at AYY Otaranta Club Room.
