It´s an exciting week to the whole Otaniemi, since the new light rail is starting on 21st October. Make sure to be at Aalto University´s light rail stop on Saturday morning. Livelihood and well-being at stake – how will the position of students deteriorate with government budget proposal?
In recent weeks, university takeovers have put a spotlight on the decisions of the Orpo Government’s first budget session to cut housing allowance and freeze the index of student financial aid. AYY’s Social Policy Specialist Tiina Pajukari explains in her blog post why cuts on students are unsustainable and answers frequently asked questions on discussion boards and comment fields regarding student income.

Join Energy Linkage or HealthTech Linkage, joint courses by Aalto and University of Helsinki!
Are you a masters student interested in the energy field? Eager to learn about energy as a connected system in fundamental transition, eager to gain a better understanding of the rapidly changing, innovation-driven energy world?
Or do your interests lie in the healthtech field? Curious to hear more about the health care system, medical device technologies, digital medicine, and health & well-being services?
Take this unique opportunity for a deep-dive into the industry of your interest! In addition to lectures, both courses consists of innovation challenges and social activities, where you’ll work and network with experts from the field and like-minded students from Aalto and University of Helsinki. The courses are worth 10 ECTS each, are open to all masters students of Aalto University and the University of Helsinki, and run from mid January to mid April 2024.

The Songwriting Contest is here again!
This competition is just for you if you want to test your songwriting skills and add your own contribution to Otaniemi song culture. You can participate in this competition alone or in a group, with one or more songs.

All new lyrics entered to the competition will be sung during the Songwriting Competition sitsit arranged by LuTku on the 14.11. During the sitsit the winners of the categories will be announced.All members of the Aalto community are welcome to attend, regardless of whether or not they have taken part in the competition. Participants of the Songwriting Competition will have the opportunity to buy a ticket for the sitsit as soon as they have entered the competition and the ticket sales for other sitsi participants will open in week 43 and will be announced separately.

Apply to volunteer in the Teekkari tradition ball!
151. Teekkari tradition week and with it the ball is just around the corner. If you, for some reason or another, don’t want to participate in the annual ball itself, you can apply to become a volunteer in the ball or the next day’s sillis. This way you can experience what it is like to organize these events. Additionally you get an attachment for the pink volunteer string and a ticket to the volunteer thank-you party in December.
