Chilly winter days are ahead so luckily AYY will reopen their saunas to tenants on this Wednesday. On this week´s Friday will be the second Guild´s Coffee Hour of the year and we´ve got exciting visitors! Next week we will have outside funtime with Automaatio- ja systeemitekniikan kilta AS and the first year students of the Guild of Architecture will get started on 9th of March when Utopia Kiima is held at Smökki. I General
Saunas to reopen on 1st of March
On 1 Mar 2023, saunas in the rental facilities of Aalto University Student Union will reopen and the residents’ sauna reservations will continue as usual. Previously, AYY decided to close the saunas for energy saving and cost reasons from 1 Jan to 31 Mar 2023. The previous decision was based on the uncertainty about the adequacy of electricity during a potentially cold and windless winter. In addition, a cold winter could have significantly increased the upkeep costs.
However, early winter 2023 was mild, and the worst scenarios of the increase in electricity prices did not happen, which is why AYY decided to review the decision. Saunas in rental facilities will reopen and the residents’ sauna reservations will be available as usual from 1 Mar 2023 onwards.
The change does not affect the current reservations and prices, and those who have booked rental facilities for March can use the saunas if they wish. The residents can start to use their previously made sauna reservations, or cancel their reservation for March.

– ✨Sparkling Sauna Day 7.3. ✨The Community Section Aava invites every Aalto student to enjoy the most beloved leisure activity of Finns, going saunas! ✨ During the event, you can visit most of AYY’s large sauna facilities, take relaxing and cool baths with your best friends and new acquaintances. During the evening, you will also get to know several committees under Aava through various checkpoints. Saunas and checkpoint maps will be distributed at the start of Sauna Day at 5 pm onwards in front of AYY’s central office. By visiting all the saunas and completing each sauna check, you will get yourself a sauna-themed overall thingy! muna, (pääsiäis)muna = egg, (easter) egg The reeds are buzzing… Are YOU ready?? The Munajahti of Hankkijat is coming back on March 29, and it’s bigger than ever! The mythological pike chicken has once again laid her orange eggs in the warmth of pubs and bars near the orange-colored tracks of Espoo and Helsinki… The location of the eggs can only be found out by solving mysterious clues, so get your cognition in order! Waiting at the checkpoints are the Pike Chicken Envoys, who will offer a hint to the next checkpoint, although only after the team has completed a task ever so whimsical. Munajahti is also a team sport where Wonderful Prizes are awarded. So

Wellbeing on a Sustainable Campus eventWarmly welcome to Wellbeing on a Sustainable Campus event taking place at A Grid (Otakaari 5), on 22nd of March 2023 at 9-11. We’re launching an Aalto-wide open call for anyone who would like to help contribute in building out the A-Frame shelter around the Test Site area! We’ve acquired funding from AYY, and are set on building this shelter into a beautiful beacon of sustainability driven initiatives on campus. We are looking for a diverse set of motivated people to join us from March 5th to start.
