Hello all and have a great upcoming week! May has turned a new leaf quite literally and started pretty well. The upcoming week is full of exciting events – not the least the Eurovision Song Contest. On Saturday the campus will be filled with venues since it is Flower Day (the birthday of Teekkari Village). AYY will also have their annual celebration on the next week. Join The International Task Force!
International task force is a project which gathers a group of international students other capital area universities to share their thoughts on matters regarding international students and to advocate for them
The group gives its participants a possibility to discuss their experience, share their thoughts on the flaws of the Finnish system and reflect the possibilities what could be done better for the students on the national-level decision-making. AYY and the group has the possibility to also do bigger level advocacy work and create materials, like toolkits for international students, and statements, meet politicians and decision-makers to bring their thoughts forward. International Task Force supports the experience of being an international student living in Finland by giving the possibility of meeting other international people and doing big scale student advocacy basing in their experience.
In the discussion we listen to the issues and challenges that need to be addressed from the application process to moving and living in Finland and surface topics and concepts that required to be redefined and reviewed, lobbied. AYY wants to be of better service to you as your advocacy organization, starting with the proactive listening to your lived experience as an international student.
This project starts in May and lasts until end of November. Even if you can’t commit to the whole process, you’re welcome to join for some part of the project to share your experience or do the advocating! The language used in the group is English. Start your summer with the best possible interdisciplinary event! Have You Met Suvi is back to kick off the summer season with a bang, and this year we’re taking you on a journey to midsummer! The celebrations are not over yet, because soon it will be Flora’s Day aka Flower Day and thus the 71st birthday of our beloved Teekkari Village. Thus, Campus section organizes a party again in honor of the blooming spring and the birhtday! There will be a variety of programs, live music, as well as food and refreshments. The event starts at Servin Mökki at 2 pm and the day’s program continues until 8 pm. 💚 However, the night doesn’t end there, it culminates in the Eurovision Watch Party at Servin Mökki! The Watch Party is organized together with GAYY and Master Committee of Aava. Between the hustle and bustle of the day and the Watch Party, Eurovision Preparty is organized in the game room (Jämeräntaival 3 A). Wind machines, pyro, modulation after modulation!? Eurovision 2023 is here! As part of Flower Day GAYY is hosting a Eurovision watch party together with Campus Section and Master Committee of Aava in Smökki. Before the main event, there will be a preparty with karaoke and other Eurovision related activities to get you hyped up for the big show. You can also participate in a costume contest at the preparty! A badge for the event can be bought at location. Join other Eurovision fans to celebrate the show of the year – It’s crazy, it’s party, it’s Eurovision 2023!!! What: Eurovision Watch Party and Preparty When: 13.5. AYY members now have the opportunity to apply as a candidate for the advisory board for development cooperation of SYL (KENKKU) and the climate network. In the committees, you get to learn and do national influencing work in the field of development cooperation and climate policy.
