Hi, Guild members!<\/p>\n

The new Semester started with a lovely coffee hour between the students and the faculty, and now a month later, you are once more presented with the opportunity to share your ideas with the whole Department.<\/p>\n

The hottest topics of the Autumn are the results of AllWell? questionnaire and the general teaching and study culture of the Department of Architecture. Are you happy with the way courses function? Do the home bases work as intended? Have you noticed something to improve in the working mindset?<\/p>\n

So, we invite you to the Department coffee hour, a conversational event between the students and faculty of the Department of Architecture, in front of the A1 lecture hall in Otakaari 1X, on Wednesday 12 October at 3 pm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

[AK] Guild Evening: Board makeover 10.10.<\/strong><\/h6>\n
\n

Welcome to Guild evening on the 10th of October from 5pm onwards!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

What is a Guild evening?<\/strong>\u00a0Guild evenings are open discussion events, where all Guild members get to share their ideas and thoughts about current topics concerning the Guild. These discussion inform the decision-making of the Board, so Guild evenings are a great way to make a concrete influence.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the topic this time?<\/strong>\u00a0The Board makeup for the year 2023 will be changing, and as the Election meeting takes place at the end of November, the roles up for election should be clear as soon as possible. So, the Guild evening discusses which roles are included in the Board of next year<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Why are we changing the Board makeup?<\/strong>\u00a0The amount of new bachelor students in the Department of Architecture has been on the rise for years, and next fall we are going to have about 120 new bachelor students. Such a large number of fuksis is too much for one Fuksi captain, so the Board wanted to name two Fuksi captains for the year 2023<\/em><\/strong>. However, our rules currently state that the maximum size of the Board is 13 members, so in order to get another captain in, something needs to change. Technically it is possible to change the rules of the Guild, but that was deemed as a last-resort solution by the Board.<\/p>\n

What options do we have? <\/strong>Solutions to the problem include e.g. making the ISOcouncillor a job for a non-board-member or rearranging the responsibilities in the communications sector or overall in the Board<\/em><\/strong>. We can also discuss whether some tasks currently under Board members should be done by other Guild actives or if some tasks from the committees should be moved to the Board (like the editor of the Guild magazine Paperi).<\/p>\n
