You can enrol for the academic year 2021\u20132022 starting on 3 May and pay the membership fee of the Student Union at the same time. A healthcare fee is paid separately to Kela, which entitles you to use the services of the Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS). Please take into account a service break of student information serves at the beginning of August, during which it is not possible to enrol. Make sure to enrol in time in order to have student benefits available to you already in the first week of August.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ohoi! Get ready for MAIK goes \u201dAATU\u201d!
\n<\/span>Friday 21.5. it\u2019s time to put on your overalls and Teekkari cap and go outside for an appro around Otaniemi!<\/span><\/p>\n

MAIK goes \u201dAATU\u201d is an appro-styled event, where all aged MAIK members are warmly welcome! The event is organized in groups of six going around Otaniemi visiting fun checkpoints. Against a full checpoint map you can also get an amazing overall patch!<\/span><\/p>\n

The registration opens on Wed 12.5. at 12 and is open till 18.5. You can give one wish for a group mate, and with those in mind the organizers will make the groups containing people from different guilds. <\/span><\/p>\n

Sustainable Curriculum? – <\/strong>
\nDiscussion with students and teachers of the Department of Architecture <\/strong><\/h5>\n

How do students feel sustainability is handled in the current curriculum and what should change? Welcome to discuss about sustainability and the current curriculum with department teachers and students at a Zoom-event on Monday 31st May at 5-7pm.<\/p>\n

The zoom link will be shared later in the guilds telegram and email.<\/p>\n

You Tell Me Collective gathered information about students\u2019 opinions towards sustainability in their studies in Aalto University. Survey was aimed at assessing the current opinion of the quality of sustainability education within Aalto University Architecture department (focus on the environmental point of view). The questionnaire is based on the ACAN Education -survey: https:\/\/www.architectscan.org\/stucan
\nThe survey was open from 13th of April to 26th of April and the survey was anonymous. In total 73 students from the department of Architecture responded to the survey. The aim of the survey is to open up discussion with the department of architecture about future curriculum development.<\/p>\n

New European Bauhaus: Wood Architecture and Design 19.5.
\n<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Wood has been used throughout human history in everything from simple structures to ornate architecture. Now in the growing demand for a climate-friendly\u00a0 environment, use of wood has become a key factor.<\/span><\/p>\n

We want to call on Nordic architects, artists, designers, engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, students and everyone interested, to join us in shaping the Nordic perspective on Wood Architecture and Design for the New European Bauhaus initiative.<\/span><\/p>\n

Come together to learn, discuss and co-create the role of wood in architecture, design and art. What can we learn from the Nordic tradition? What do we need to build a more sustainable future? How can wood architecture and design change the quality of living and create better environments on all scales?<\/span><\/p>\n

The New European Bauhaus is a creative initiative that aims to combine sustainability, inclusion and aesthetics. It is an environmental, economic and cultural project instigated by the European Commission.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event is organized by Finnish Ministry of the Environment in cooperation with the Nordic Council of Ministers, Aalto University, the Nordic Historic Wooden Towns\u2019 Network and Archinfo Finland.<\/span><\/p>\n
