On Monday the 19th of November at 6pm every candidate has the chance to give short presentations of themselves. Come present yourself or hear other candidates out and ask questions afterwards. Snacks will be served, too. Event takes place in the guild room!

AK Election meeting 22.11.

The year 2018 is coming to its end and the next year is rushing on us. It’s time to apply to become a member of the board or a guild official in the Guild of Architecture for the year of 2019! The application time has begun and the board members and other guild officials will be elected at the Election Meeting held on the 22th of November at 3:00 pm at Otakaari 1X, room A1. Food will be served starting at 2:30 pm.

Every applicant has 1 minute to introduce themselves in the election. After that, the Guild members may ask four questions to the applicants. Even if you are not applying for a post, it is extremely important to show up at the meeting to give your precious vote for the nominees. Your vote might be the one that makes the difference. To vote you need to be a member of the Guild and have your member sticker with you at the door.

To help you on where and how to apply, ESN Aalto and Aalto University come together on Tuesday 20th November to share our knowledge of the fantastic opportunities of studying abroad. At the event, we will give you general information and concrete guidance sessions about the application process by each schools’ outgoing exchange coordinators. Finnish students and exchange students alike will give first-hand accounts of universities in many countries in the presentations and our info desks.

The USP teachers and students will give information about the two-year study programme and share their experiences in an open info session on November 27th at 3-4pm in Urbarium, Porthania (Yliopistonkatu 3, street level).

The Master’s Programme in Urban Studies and Planning (USP) is a joint study programme of the University of Helsinki and Aalto University. The programme prepares students to excel as professionals capable of understanding and addressing complex urban development challenges. Students gain a broad understanding of urban phenomena as well as practical experiences in collaborative and concrete situations. The programme offers several degree options from two universities:

University of Helsinki: Master of Science (env. sciences & geography), Master of Social Sciences & Master of Arts (humanities)

Aalto University: Master of Science (Architecture), Master of Science (Landscape Architecture) & Master of Science (Technology)

The next application round begins on December 3, 2018 and ends on January 11, 2019, for studies starting in Autumn 2019.

The programme combines several degree options from Aalto University and the University of Helsinki. The target degree is to be selected in the application process, and the application should be directed to the suitable university according to the target degree. The applicability of previous studies is assessed according to the selected target degree. The chosen target degree cannot be changed.

Nyyti Ry survey

Nyyti ry is a national Finnish non-profit organisation founded in 1984. Our operations are funded by Finland’s Slot Machine Association (RAY). More info about Nyyti can be found here: https://www.nyyti.fi/en/yhdistys/

The purpose of our operations is to support students’ mental health and life management. We aim to improve students’ study skills and ability to cope with everyday life as well as related peer activities. Moreover, we aim to enhance the skills of people in charge of mental health promotion and problem prevention among students and in student communities.

We want to get feedback and suggestions for the future regarding Nyyti’s web activities, website, and online content. Your opinion is very important to us, and it will help us develop our operations. It only takes 5 – 10 minutes to fill out the survey.

The survey is meant both for students and the professionals who work with them. The results shall be analyzed in confidence and anonymously so that none of the participants can be identified based on the answers.
